There are two issues:
1. Killies are small and fast moving. They are therefore very difficult to be captured with a camera with automatic focusing.
2. The aquarium is dark to the camera (but bright to our eyes) but using a flash may drastically change the color of a fish. The followings are two examples of how their colors could be different with a flash.

It is therefore necessary to use manual focusing hand held without using a flash (unless you prefer the flashed color). Many of the so called Point & Shoot cameras do not allow manual focusing. Check before you buy if you intend to use that new camera for fish photography. Anyway, if the eyes are in focus, you've got the focus right!
The Key to Acquiring this Skill of Fish Photography
Spend 2 hours shooting non stop! Take a fish photo, examine the photo on the LCD for about 15 seconds. Is it in focus, out of focus, too dark, too bright, too early, too late, too small, too big, etc? Make some adjustment of ISO, aperture, shutter speed etc. that you think or guess appropriate and shoot again. Proceed to take another photo after this 15 seconds even if you are not sure what went wrong and what to adjust. Repeat like that for 2 hours in one evening and you will become an expert. And yes, use a fully charged battery!
